The Canon PowerShot S5 IS is an 8.0 megapixel bridge (aka hybrid) digital camera. It was announced on May 7, 2007 and launched in June of the same year. The PowerShot S5 IS is Canon's 4th superzoom camera, with an integrated 12x zoom lens, and includes image stabilization technology (IS).
The Canon PowerShot S5 IS has a DIGIC III processor, which has higher performance compared to the older DIGIC II used in its predecessor, the 6-megapixel Canon PowerShot S3 IS.
