The Nikon D40x, released on March 6, 2007, is an improvement to the Nikon D40. It has a maximum resolution of 10 megapixel as compared to 6 megapixels on the D40. Like the D40, the D40x will only autofocus using lenses with internal focus motors. Other improvements to the D40 includes a 3 frames per second continuous shooting, and expanded sensitivity down to ISO 100. The Nikon D40x was launched with the introduction of a new consumer-level telephoto zoom with vibration reduction, the AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED.
